Click Here to Visit our Sponsor This web site is based on two ideas, which although clichés are nonetheless truths. The first is: "To know who we are, we must know where we came from." and the second is: "It was a time of great transformation and change." These over used truths are particularly descriptive of the turn of the century in the United States. The fact that we are now an urbanized, industrialized and technologically advanced culture is a direct result of events at the turn of the century. Today's debates and arguments concerning the role of government in domestic issues, the status of immigrants, and the use of national power in other countries are not new - just current reincarnations of old controversies. Even our private modern lives would be impossible without the invention and development of the telephone, electrical system, car and airplane at the turn of the century. It is my intent to explore (eventually) all these issues and their impact on our lives today. If you have any suggestions, corrections or comments please contact me at donna@ushistory.net. I would love to hear from you.
